Little India

Little India

Little India is a vibrant neighbourhood in Singapore just a 5-minutes drive from J8 Hotel via Jalan Besar and Dunlop St., known for its colorful streets, bustling markets, and delicious Indian food. Or if you prefer to experience the Indian culture by foot and wake up your 5 senses with the vibrant colours, smell of spices, taste of wonderful dishes, hear Indian music and touch different textures then it is a 15-minutes walk via Rowell Rd. Little India is home to a wide variety of shops selling everything from spices and textiles to souvenirs and religious items. You can also find many Indian restaurants serving up traditional dishes like dosa, idli, and biryani. The district has a fascinating history. During the middle of the 19th century, Europeans were drawn to Little India for the racecourse that was once famous here, and Indian migrants arrived as cattle trading flourished. Today, Hindu and Chinese temples sit alongside churches and mosques around Serangoon Road. If you’re looking for a cultural experience in Singapore, Little India is definitely worth a visit. And if you’re just looking for a good meal, you won’t be disappointed either!
